It’s always been our dream to have something we can be proud to call our own. By utilsing our skills we come up with our very own brainchild, Ibbleobble. A unique range of educational apps carefully assembled to help children practice the maths and vocabulary skills using their mobile device. The original concept was born after I Paul visited an international school in Indonesia. He learnt about Howard Gardner’s ‘Theory of Multiple Intelligences’ who’s theory explains how individuals have different strengths and empowers learners to learn in lots of different ways, providing the influence needed to build the Ibbleobble concept.
Ibbleobble: is educational, fun, numbers, development, learning, communication, teaching, maths, skills, vocabulary, cute, colourful, friends, friendship, encouragement, character design and most importantly fun-packed.
Inspired by Howard Gardner’s ‘Theory of Multiple Intelligences’ – we began by crafting seven relatable characters: Mr Mousey, Lola the chicken, Fin the hedgehog, Tom the Frog, Nancy the sheep, Kelly the Rabbit and Florence the Fox. And assigned one of his theories to each character. i.e. Tom the Frog has a learning style that takes place by carrying out physical activities and Lola the chicken has a ‘musical intelligence’ and the capacity to discern pitch, rhythm, timbre, and tone. This really interesting feature gives our characters a bit more substance. Feel free to learn more here.
It was important that our brand not only appealed to a young audience, but to parents and teachers for example. This is why we created a primary colour scheme, a choice of font that was legible and for youngsters to digest.
Our core educational range is made up of seven native apps built on the iOS platform. The game play of each app follows the same format. Each child is encouraged to choose a character who is associated to a certain level of the game. For example Mr Mousey helps the early learner, while Florence assists the more advanced learner. Once a child has chosen a character (or level) they are guided through a series of quickfire puzzles which require a multiple choice answer. There is even an option to play at your own pace or against the clock. In theory the more you play the better you become.
Our first app we released ‘Words with Ibbleobble’ helps children with vocabulary acquisition, while the following apps such as ‘Multiplication with Ibbleobble’ and ‘Sequences with Ibbleobble’ are geared towards helping children gain a feel for numbers. Ibbleobble now have over 20 products on the App Store which includes our educational apps, app bundles, iMessage stickers and games for Apple TV.
Finally, KidDotCo have been fortunate enough to be recognised for their work with Ibbleobble. In 2016 ‘Patterns with Ibbleobble’ was awarded ‘Best Application’ at the Creativepool Annual Awards 2016 and ‘Words with Ibbleobble’ received ‘Highly Commended’ status at the Lincs Digital 2016.
